It Better Be in Black or White or Else!

"Watch your back as you may never know what may be behind you or in front of you" I've been told multiple times by my dad, he's a funny individual, always knows how to make you laugh. You never might know what may be lurking in the shadows. While reading The Graveyard book, that's how I felt, you never knew what was going to happen and you never knew where it was going to come from. That's the fun of reading and watching scary movies in my opinion. I am always watching movies in my free time and most of the time they are scary! Call me a freak, call me insane but I find it so enjoyable.

What's not to like about watching movies! Fun fact did you know they were going to make a movie through Pixar for this book; however, it was shut down, I want a movie! If they were to ever create a movie I would hope for it to be and black and white as I feel it's fitting for the storyline and plot. It adds more of a dramatic and scary effect. With this said, I would want Dave Mckean to create the illustrations and sets for the movie as I feel he fulfilled his job so well in the book, he would do so well in the movie as well! I felt like all the words were jumping out and coming alive through what I was reading and seeing on the pages. Even without words, the illustrations can tell a story and we can infer what may be happening or what is going to happen.

Black and white changes the tone, setting, mood, and overall atmosphere in my opinion. For some movies such as comedy, action, and romance I would not portray a black and white film as I feel it would confuse or make the audience wonder more, but for scary movies, it creates a sense of realness and make the scary figures scarier. The darker the better! I turn all the lights off to create that dramatic effect. I feel black and white would go along with the dark theme and gruesome theme scary movies portray.

Lastly, I feel The Graveyard Book would be better filmed in black and white because it's what the reader is used to and it's less distracting. When focused on just the main colors being black and white we aren't distracted by other colors in which takes the viewer off of the movie. Although some don't find scary movies pleasant and would want a distraction I feel it's just fitting for a scary movie and to get those jump effects. It's also better in black and white as it's what the reader is used to and it's captivating and adds details we may not take away from the reading.

Have I freaked you out yet with my weirdness about how I feel all scary movies should be portrayed! My whole family thinks I'm crazy. I'm the only one who enjoys scary movies. I love to be scared while watching scary movies. I purposely will scare someone while watching the movie(s). Don't ever consider watching scary movies with me, if you do proceed with caution! I almost was going to put a jump scare however couldn't find a super scary one so your welcome to those who get scared easily!

You can't hide, you can't run! Watch your back!
BOO!
Did I scare you?!
